BIG IoT will engage the developer community through workshops and hackathons, but also through 2 Open Calls that enable new partners to join the project with a specific task. This can e.g. be the development of applications and services based on the BIG IoT API, but also to invite providers of existing smart object platforms to implement the BIG IoT API.
The goal of the Open Calls is to validate the applicability of the results of BIG IoT in real world scenarios, as well as to allow creative solutions and services to be developed on the technological platform provided by the BIG IoT project. This will ensure that the work is commercially exploited as well as made accessible to a wider audience who can be expected to become part of the IoT ecosystem crystallizing around the work from the BIG IoT project.
Therefore, a portion (750.000 €) of the project’s budget is allocated for new partners selected through the Open Calls. The calls focus on attracting new partners for the BIG IoT ecosystem in the role of either service, application, or platform providers for the three pilot sites.
The first Open Call will be published in the next April 2017 and will close two months later. It will target IoT platforms/service providers willing to provide new data to the project through the BIG IoT API and Marketplace.
The second Open Call will be published in January 2018, targeting also IoT Applications providers.
If you are interested in getting engaged with us, don’t hesitate to fill this form earlier, and we will contact you as soon as the details of the Open Calls will be publicly available.
